Giffords Come to Visit Day 1

We got back from our South Island adventure late Friday night and my parents flew in early Monday morning. We were all sooo excited to see them! It had been 10 months since our kids had seen their grandparents. We were so excited to show them where we live and have fun exploring & spending time with them.

Cody & Ethan braved the morning rush hour traffic to pick them up from the airport while I stayed home continuing to clean and get ready for our special visitors. As soon as they drove into our driveway, they were bombarded with hugs & kisses. We got them settled in, gave them a tour of our home, ate lunch, and then went on our first adventure.

We took the crazy windy road down to Piha to show them the famous surfing beach. We timed our visit just right so we could be there during low tide and walk to the Washing Machine and The Gap and the Blowholes. We walked up to the lookout and awed at the beauty of this beach. My dad had his camera attached to his eye the whole time…loving the gorgeous scenes. Ethan & Gavin tried out their new boogie boards and fins in the dangerous Piha water and they loved it! We headed home and hit up our local Takeaways place for fish & chips. We had to show our American family the kiwi cuisine =) They loved it! After showers, we settled in to watch a few episodes of Piha Rescue.
