Moirs Hill Walkway

The forecast called for rain yet again so we vacillated between ideas of what to do. Should we just stay in and relax and stay warm & dry or get out in nature and chance getting wet & cold? We opted for getting out and exploring! After sleeping in and having a lazy morning, we packed up and drove a little north to find a good walk. We came upon one that we had driven past often and decided to try it out. The sign said it would be about a 3k loop and would take about 2 hours. Perfect. We know that tramping in the winter will always be muddy and wet and we were up for the challenge. The weather was great for us! We walked past a stream and small waterfall and all agreed that it would be fun to revisit in the summer. We sludged through lots of mud. Some of us may have slipped a few times. We all had muddy hands at one point to help break our falls! But it was so fun and we loved the adventure. It wasn't our favorite walk because you could hear the highway noise but it was still pretty fun. We had fun playing "Would You Rather…" and playing sequence chanting games. We laughed a lot. After all was said and done, the walk ended up being 6k and only took us around 2 hours. Reese and Trevor are becoming quite the little hikers! We love getting out in nature!

As we were driving to our destination, our friends rang us to tell us that there was a huge pod of dolphins near their home. Unfortunately, we were already well on our way. So after our walk, we decided to stop at the local beaches along the way to see if we could catch them still. We found them at Big Manly beach and it was awesome! We would see them in the distance jumping, splashing, and doing tricks. There were 20-30 of them out there having fun. We saw a couple of kayakers and kite surfers playing near them getting up close and personal. It really made us excited to get our kayaks. It was so cool and a great ending to our day.
