4th of July

The 4th of July is usually a holiday where you can enjoy being outside, play in the water, bbq with friends and family, make homemade ice cream and root beer, and stay up late watching fireworks….if you're in the states. But since we're currently in winter on the other side of the world, we had to improvise. We invited some of our favorite friends over and had an indoor bbq. We tried to decorate as festively as we could with a lot of red, white, and blue. I printed out Americana activities for the kids to play. We had an assortment of good bbq worthy dishes. We had the heat blasting inside so we could feel as warm as possible =) Our friend is a butcher so he shared some of his mouthwatering meat with us. It was a delicious night! We played the National Anthem, the older boys taught our friends The Pledge of Allegiance, and we watched fireworks on tv. It wasn't nearly the same as the States, but we still had a fun time sharing this special holiday with friends.
