Day to Day Life

The first 2 weeks were so busy with getting settled in, finding a car to buy, finding a home to rent, and throwing a trip in to the beach here and there. Our life seems picture perfect, but it is not butterflies and roses all the time. Here's a look into our real day to day life over the past couple of weeks.

We have been living in a vacation rental that we secured through Airbnb. It's a great new home, with a lot of space (5 bedrooms & 3 bathrooms), with furniture, and cookware. It has definitely made our life easier having a place to call home during this adjustment period. But having a home does not mean that it is neat and tidy…at all! Remember, we have 18 suitcases and we have been living out of those colorful jam packed bags for the past few weeks. Things are thrown around and piled on top all throughout the house. There is no order to our madness. We have things in piles all over the kitchen, partly using our stuff and the rental stuff.

The kids have had way too much screen time. We try to throw in a little reading, writing, flashcards, and math computer games here and there. I try to implement Quiet Time each day to maintain all of our sanity. The kids have been really good considering all of the changes they've had to go through. We've had to run a lot of errands, search many homes, check out a ton of cars, go to their new schools multiple times, and do a lot of boring adult things but they have been troopers!

Auckland has a lot of Bakeries sprinkling the city so we made sure to check one out for a little treat. We take walks down to feed the ducks as often as we can. The neighborhood we're staying in is very urban and has many houses on top of each other. But just around the corner is a great green grassy area where the ducks gather, a pond, trees, and great walking paths. With Easter approaching we've tried to focus on Easter activities this week. I packed some plastic Easter eggs and the kids had fun filling them with raisins and hiding and finding them in the house. We've also watched a lot of Easter messages and movies on mormon.org that have been great reminders for this special time of year.

And, we've taken it very seriously to find the best chocolate in New Zealand. I think we've already succeeded! Whittaker's is a brand made in New Zealand and it comes in many flavors and percentages of cocoa. We are in love and already addicted =) #priorities

  2. You look pretty organized with those suitcases to me! You have a great eye for photographs. You must have your dad's photo gene! As well as his chocolate addiction gene!!😊

  3. I love this post! It's great to get to see your actual living arrangements. I bet you're also counting down the days until you can get those boys in school. :)

  4. Hopefully moving day will go like clockwork and it will seem more like home than your vacation rental. Beautiful pics!
