Arriving in New Zealand

After a long flight we finally arrived! Since we had quite a crew, we waited until everyone was off the plane to disembark. We gathered our carryons and backpacks, took a potty break, moseyed our way through the airport, and went through passport security. By the time we made it to the baggage claim, we were the last ones! It made it easy to round up all of our colorful luggage. Thankfully they had free baggage carts so we piled them high and everyone was in charge of pushing their own. Reese insisted on piloting hers and she did a great job! We were unsure what to expect going through customs and had heard horror stories of their strictness.  We had scrubbed all of our shoes clean, had our prescription meds labeled and stored properly, disposed of all food, and made sure we wouldn't get charged for anything. The process ended up being a breeze! I don't know if it was because we were the last ones of the flight, if they had pity on us because of our large party, or because it was divine intervention, but our prayers were definitely answered and we made it through without any questions or problems.

Again, we had to hire a shuttle to get us to our vacation rental. Even though we were all tired, we were all so excited to finally see New Zealand! We drove through the beautiful city, past Sky Tower, over the Harbour Bridge, all the way to Oteha where we would be staying for the next 3 weeks.

We unloaded and freshened up. We picked up our rental car and got right to work! We got our banking set up, my phone up and running, our drivers licenses, and did some grocery shopping. We hit the pillows hard that night and said a prayer of gratitude that we had made it safely and were settling in just fine.
