South Island Day 2

We woke ready for a day exploring Christchurch! We first took a trip to the Antarctic Centre. We had fun in the arctic room experiencing the crazy cold, viewing the cute little molting penguins, reading the displays, petting the huskies, watching movies, and shopping for souvenirs. After we had our fill, we headed to downtown Christchurch and took a tram (trolley) ride through the city. We loved it! It was so cool learning about the earthquake in 2011 and seeing the progress towards a better city. We had fun souvenir shopping and eating delicious cookies for a treat. The city was so charming and had such great character & a fun feeling. We ate a yummy Italian dinner on the porch of the restaurant and loved relaxing and enjoying the beautiful city. We headed to a nearby beach to top off our fun filled day. Sumner beach had an awesome cave that you could walk thru to the beach. The kids loved climbing to the top and playing in the sand. It was a great ending to such a great day!
