After school each day we try to get out on our beach or play at the park before it gets too chilly and rainy. I pick up the primary school kids and head home and then Ethan walks home about 30 minutes after we arrive. We love to sit out on our deck and watch and wait for him. Gavin is the most excited to see him each day! He waits at the end of the green field and walks home with him with a little jaunt in his step as they walk up the hill talking about their days. It is so cute! We have snacks, do a little homework (they don't have much here….hallelujah!), and then we head out to the beach. What we refer to as our Backyard Beach is just a few minutes walk across the green field next to our home and over a little bridge. It's like walking through a little secret garden path and we love it! We walk barefoot in the lush thick grass past tall overgrown green trees and bushes with berries, with a river running beside us. Once there we try to collect shells, look for crabs or star fish, explore the roots and trees, or wade in the water. Our favorite time to explore is at low tide where more rocks, trees, and shells are exposed...we find lots of treasures!
The park is pretty awesome! It has a zip line, fun tire-like swing, a huge rope climbing structure, and lots of other spinning toys….all with a gorgeous view of the beach in the background. It's a nice and relaxing way to end our afternoon. Then we head home and get dinner ready for Dad to come. We love spending as much time outside as possible and we love exploring this new place!
