For those of you not familiar with General Conference, it is a conference that the leaders of our church conduct twice a year. Our prophet and apostles and other leaders of our church instruct, encourage, guide, and direct us how to better live our lives. It's always such an uplifting weekend, one that we always come away from wanting to do better and become better. We have the opportunity to either go to the Conference Center in Salt Lake City, watch via satellite at a church building, or view from the comfort of our home. It is always broadcasted the first weekend of April and the first weekend of October. But since New Zealand is almost a full day ahead of the US, we were on a different time frame for watching General Conference this year. We got to watch it a week later. We watched the Saturday session a talk at a time after dinner each day that week and then we watched the Sunday session the following Sunday. It was a cold and rainy day and we all stayed snuggled in our pjs and cozied up in blankets and sleeping bags in our empty home. The kids did a great job staying quiet and entertaining themselves with Legos and cards. My favorite thing to do is to relisten to the talks the following weeks to better understand them and apply them to my life. I love that we belong to a worldwide church that is the same in countries spanning the globe. I love technology and that we are able to still stay connected to updated information. I also love that we have a built in community of friends wherever we move that believe the same as we believe and we can learn and grow from each other.
