A great family from our church invited us over for dinner and a bonfire for Family Night. Their family is part Maori and they were so fun to get to know! Their older kids played with our kids so nicely and they taught them some new games. They live on a beautiful rural property with lots of fruit trees, tons of grass, chickens, and cute puppies. It was still close to the beach and city but far enough away to feel rural and get away from the hustle and bustle. If Cody and I could pick anywhere to live, this would be it…it was heavenly!
We had a yummy dinner with their large family. Then for the entertainment they had been piling branches for weeks for a fun big bonfire. Our kids loved the huge flames and I welcomed the warm heat in the cool night air. They made parachutes out of cups and plastic bags and watched them soar through the smoke. We had hot cocoa, roasted marshmallows, biscuits (cookies), and banana cake. We had a blast! We love getting to know the good people of New Zealand!
