Orewa Beach

We drive past Orewa Beach all the time, but we have never taken the time to spend a day at the beach. So we finally made it happen! We got a few things done in the morning and then packed up for a few hours to enjoy a nice relaxing afternoon on this beach that is only a 10 minute drive from our home. The kids loved playing in the sand, wading in the water, and boogie boarding. Ethan and Gavin especially love using their boogie boards and fins any chance they can get. We were about to pack up and leave after a fun time, when we looked up and saw Ethan's best buddy, Josh and his twin brother Jack, head towards us with their parents. They begged and pleaded for us a to stay a bit longer. It's so fun to watch them enjoy and interact with their friends.

As the big boys were all out having fun boogie boarding, I noticed that the fun had stopped and they appeared to be searching for something. Reese and I went over to see what was going on. Gavin had lost one of his fins and they couldn't find it anywhere. We were so bummed because it was a really nice flipper and a Christmas present. The water was so murky and the waves kept churning. It would be nearly impossible to find it. Reese was holding my hand in the shallow water as we searched for a few minutes. I leaned down and quietly asked Reese if we should say a prayer to help us find the lost fin. She said yes so we stood where we were and quietly and quickly pled for help for Heavenly Father to help us find it. As soon as we said "Amen", we took 3 steps, while dragging our feet on the ocean floor and stepped on the fin! It was a miracle that we not only found it, but found it so quickly! I love that God answers our prayers, whether big or small and I aways love when I can share in special teaching moments with my kids.
